Atomic Resolution X-ray Holography

Atomic resolution x-ray holography is an unique technique to provide local structural information such as strain in crystal structures around an impurity element, which cannot be accessed with conventional x-ray crystallography. Our study includes the proposal of a simple method to remove unwanted conjugate images in reconstruction. The figures blow show (left) an experimentally measured hologram and (right) the reconstructed image of zinc selenide (ZnSe). In the reconstructed image, four Selenium atoms (red) neighboring the central zinc atom, free from the untoward effect of conjugate images.
